DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) -

If you’re looking for something new at the Du Quoin State Fair, the “Zu Zu African Acrobats” are in town for the occasion.

The group has toured Europe, Japan, and the United States for about 20 years; including appearances at the White House, NBA half-time shows, and on NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent’.

All five of them hail from a small village near Mombasa in Kenya, where group leader ‘Katana’ says the group first learned to perform.

“We started doing this in the village, seeing our older brothers perform in the village, we started doing the same thing.” Katana said at the fair. “A lot of tourists from all over the world, they come to the village and we perform for them.”

“They ask us ‘Are you guys lifting weights or anything like that?’” said Acrobat Charo Munyika. “We’re like nah, man, this is natural! We’re Just lifting each other, and that’s like our gym right there.”

2016 is the group’s first time to the Du Quoin State Fair.

After it’s finished, they move on to Kentucky and continue their traveling show from there.

The ZuZu African Acrobats perform twice a day at the fair on Weekdays and four times a day during the weekend.
