Man from Advance, MO killed in St. Louis Co. hit and run

ADVANCE, MO (KFVS) -

Family members in Advance, Missouri are remembering a man killed in a hit and run on Monday night, August 29 in St. Louis County.

St. Louis authorities said Jeffery Dickinson, 52, recently lived in Doe Run and was walking along an overpass on I-270 when he was hit by a gold Chevrolet SUV.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, an officer was flagged down around 8:42 p.m. by someone who said there was a man lying in the middle of the road.

The officer found the man on the Lilac Avenue overpass above Interstate 270. He then called for EMS.

The victim, identified as Dickinson, was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

A witness told police Dickinson was walking in the northbound lanes of Lilac Avenue when he was hit. They said the vehicle stopped momentarily before leaving the scene and was last seen going westbound on I-270.

The search for the driver is ongoing.

Dickinson's son reached out and said the family is hoping to find the person who did this so they can have closure.

He also created a page to help raise money for his father's funeral expenses.
