JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

Despite rainy weather, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced the roundabout project in Jackson, Missouri is on schedule.

Watch a time lapse video of the progress here:

During the week of September 5, MoDOT's contractor plans to have most of the roundabout finished, except the north leg of Route 61.

On Sept. 12, people will be able to use Main Street and the south leg of Route 61, weather permitting.

According to MoDOT, the next phase is to close Washington Street (Route 61) from the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse to Hope Street. This will allow the contractor to install a water line, lay asphalt and pour concrete on sidewalks and islands.

This part of the project is expected to be finished in about four weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic will be detoured from Route D to Farmington Road to Route 34/72.
