MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

An early morning traffic stop in McCracken County ends with three people in custody on drug charges.

According to the sheriff's department, a deputy stopped a car on Starlight Drive around 3 a.m. Thursday.

When the deputy made contact, the driver, Theodore Brockman, 24, of Paducah did not have photo identification and was acting nervous.

Brockman performed field sobriety tests and the deputy found him to be under the influence of toxicants. He was arrested at the scene.

The owner of the car who was riding as a passenger, Peter Gonzales, 42, of Marion, Illinois, had two outstanding warrants so he was taken into custody.

Gonzales gave consent for deputies to search his car.

That's when the deputy asked the backseat passenger, Candice Overby, 19, of Paducah to get out of the car.

Overby had a glass pipe protruding from her shirt. She also admitted to having two baggies of methamphetamine in her shorts, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies learned that Brockman and Overby were involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine during their investigation.

Brockman faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, no registration plates, driving with one headlight, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, trafficking in controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.

Overby faces charges of trafficking in controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Gonzales faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, promoting contraband, and drug paraphernalia.
