LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 are back open at the 31 mile marker in Livingston County.

A semi caught on fire around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1.

Kentucky State Police reports when officers arrived on scene they found the tractor trailer engulfed in flames, along with both the trailers it was hauling.

Fire departments on scene were able to extinguish the fire.

Crews with the transportation cabinet had to clean cooking oil from the road before it could be reopened.

From time to time the load tried to re-ignite which slowed down the recovery effort.
