ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

An armed and dangerous man was located after a police chase in St. Francois County, Missouri on Tuesday, August 30.

According to Desloge Police, 48-year-old Joseph A. Schelsky from Ste. Genevieve County was taken into custody Tuesday evening.

Chief James Bullock said around 7:04 a.m. an officer tried to pull over a vehicle for failure to use a turn signal. He said the vehicle drove away, going toward Highway P with the officer following.

He said they crossed Missouri Highway 8 and then crossed onto Old Highway 8 for about one mile.

The suspects allegedly pulled into the driveway of a home, turned around and headed back in the opposite direction.

Chief Bullock said the suspects lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch.

The driver of the vehicle got out and allegedly pointed a gun at the officer. Police say he allegedly walked toward the officer, telling him to get his hands off of the gun.

According to Chief Bullock, the driver turned off the officer's radio, grabbed the officer's taser and told the officer to back off.

Additional officers arrived shortly and the suspects ran into a wooded, rural area. Chief Bullock said the passenger in the suspect vehicle ran off with an electric guitar.

Chief Bullock said the passenger in the car was later taken into custody.

He said the second suspect, Joseph Schelsky, has two warrants: misdemeanor failure to appear and felony possession of a controlled substance.

About six to eight different departments are assisting with the investigation.
