Sunday mornings won't be the same come September 25.

Longtime anchor Charles Osgood announced his retirement, ending a 22-year-run as the face of CBS Sunday Morning.

Osgood's 45-year career at CBS News will conclude with a special on-air tribute on September 25.

A CBS spokesperson said Osgood will still make occasional appearances on the program.

He will continue to anchor "The Osgood File" on the CBS Radio Network and stations around the country.

During Sunday's broadcast, Osgood said, "Some of you may have heard rumors lately that I won't be hosting these ‘Sunday Morning’ broadcasts very much longer. Well, I'm here to tell you that the rumors are true." He went on to say, "For years now people — even friends and family — have been asking me why I keep doing this considering my age. I am pushing 84. It's just that it’s been such a joy doing it! Who wouldn't want to be the one who gets to introduce these terrific storytellers and the producers and writers and others who put this wonderful show together."

The 90-minute special edition that will honor Osgood will include a look at his career along with surprise guests, interviews, and special performances.

You can watch it on-air on KFVS on Sunday, September 25. It runs from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
