The last Monday in August will be a tribute to the dog days of summer. This morning it will be muggy, but dry. You may see some fog during your commute. This afternoon will be hot and humid with the heat index over 100-degrees. FIRST ALERT: Changes are coming. The latter part of the week looks cooler and less humid.

Making Headlines:

New officer: The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police department wants to add a four-legged officer to its force, and it's asking for donations to make it happen. SIUC PD says there has been an increase in bomb threats to buildings and residence halls on campus in recent years.

False report: Los Angeles Police say there were no shots fired at the Los Angeles International Airport Sunday night, despite earlier reports. The false report did cause panic, though, as panicked passengers ran onto the tarmac in fear of a gunman, some flights were even delayed.

Behind bars: A Kentucky man accused of assaulting a woman could face murder charges today, after the victim died from her injuries. Christopher Smith, 35, is due in court today, accused of beating 39-year-old Rhonda Runyon at a home in Calloway County.

Under investigation: The search is on for a suspect wanted in connection to an armed robbery in Doniphan early Sunday morning. Police say a man demanded money at the Casey's General Store before pulling out a weapon.
