ORAN, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says an Oran man has been arrested on domestic abuse and drug charges.

Mark Gordon, 42, has been charged with domestic assault -2nd degree and possession of a controlled substance.

Walter says that on Saturday, August 27, deputies responded to an address outside of Oran for a domestic disturbance in progress.

Deputies arrived and located the victim outside crying and had blood and red marks on her chest, a laceration to her leg, and red marks on her arms.

The victim told deputies Gordon and she were driving in a vehicle and arguing.

The victim stated Gordon began striking her in the head and face while she was driving and having her two juvenile children in the vehicle. When they arrived at the home, Gordon broke out the driver’s side window and attempted to pull the victim through the window.

Gordon began striking the victim in the head, face, and body. The children got out of the vehicle and ran to a field. Gordon could not get the victim through the window, so he stopped and went inside.

Deputies located Gordon inside the home and placed him under arrest. While searching Gordon for weapons, deputies located a brass air hose fitting with burnt residue. Next to Gordon was located a hollow metal tube containing burnt residue. It was determined the burnt residue was marijuana.

Gordon was transported to the Scott County Jail. Gordon remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $2,5000 cash only, and Gordon cannot possess alcohol or have contact with the victim.
