Authorities: Man accused in Doniphan armed robbery also involved in Butler Co. robberies

DONIPHAN, MO (KFVS) -

A man wanted after an armed robbery at a Doniphan, Missouri gas station is also believed to be involved in multiple robberies in Butler County.

According to Doniphan police, Alexander Whisnant, 23, of Doniphan, is in custody in the Butler County Jail.

He facing multiple charges including four counts of first degree robbery and four counts of armed criminal action.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs said Whisnant was involved in a Casey's store robbery in Doniphan. He is also accused in the robberies of multiple gas stations and hotels in Butler County.

The armed robbery in Doniphan happened right before 4 a.m. on Sunday at the Casey's General Store on Washington Street.

Police say a man dressed in all black demanded money, and then pulled out a weapon.

No injuries were reported, but police say the man did steal money, though it's uncertain of how much.
