CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau Police have arrested a man they say led them on a high-speed chase through the area on Saturday night.

According to Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Adam Glueck, Michael J. Jones, 28, has been charged with a felony count of resisting a lawful stop, a felony count of possession of meth, and a misdemeanor of possession of marijuana.

Officials say it started at a checkpoint near Isle Casino around 10 p.m. Saturday, and extended north, beyond Cape Girardeau city limits.

Police say several vehicles were struck by Jones as he was trying to evade police.

Those involved were members of the Street Crime Multi-Jurisdiction task Force, a group of first responders from Cape, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, Charleston, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and even the Missouri National Guard, who had a search helicopter out during the investigation.

There's no word of any injuries or damages done during the chase.
