SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

A Sikeston, Missouri home was badly damaged in a fire on Thursday, August 25.

According to Sikeston DPS, the house fire was on William Street and as of 5:25 p.m., was under control.

DPS says the fire appears to be electrical, and might have originated when an electrical wire might have been damaged by a nail.

They say fire crews saved the structure, but there was a heavy loss.

There was extra personnel on the scene and the fire was so hot, they had three different fire teams go into the building.

Twenty public safety officers also responded.

According to Capt. Jim McMillen with Sikeston DPS, the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical.

He said the fire originated in the back room in the wall. They believe it started from an electrical wire that may have been accidentally damaged by a nail.
