It's a new era in St. Louis. And with a new era, there's a new captain.

On Thursday, the St. Louis Blues announced Alex Pietrangelo as the 21st captain in franchise history.

The 26-year-old King City, Ontario native was drafted in the first round by the Blues back in 2008.

Pietrangelo has played in 459 games, has 51 goals, 204 assists and 255 points.

He's been an assistant captain since 2013.

He won't be alone though. The Blues also announced Alexander Steen, Paul Stasny, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Kevin Shattenkirk will be assistant captains for the 2016-2017 season.
