First Alert Weather Outlook:

Thursday morning the Heartland wakes up to quiet and muggy morning, that will evolve into a hot and humid afternoon. Walking out the door temps will be in the 70’s but you’ll already feel the humidity. This afternoon temps will top out in the lower 90s with the heat index making it feel like it’s between 100-105. FIRST ALERT: We have a chance of thunderstorms for the weekend.

Making Headlines:

Devastating quake: Italian rescue crews were racing against time looking for survivors from the earthquake that leveled three towns in central Italy on Wednesday. The death toll has risen to 247.

Blocking traffic: A semi truck loaded with 40,000 pounds of dry rice overturned early Thursday morning. According to the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, the truck is tying up traffic on US Hwy. 641 between Murray and Hazel.

Wanted in Poplar Bluff: A Poplar Bluff, Missouri man is wanted after police say he did not make his court appearance in connection to the Heavenly Hafford case. The Poplar Bluff Police Department is asking for the public's help finding Randel Sparks.

Damaging stormsSevere weather in Indiana on Wednesday caused some serious damage. Among other things, a twister heavily damaged a Starbucks just outside the Kokomo Speedway.

    Sgt. Clark Parrott said Troop E officers are on the scene of a crash on MO 72 near Cape Girardeau County Road 350. He confirms one person has died from injuries in the crash. Relatives have been notified.
