Hwy. 641 south of Murray back open after semi overturns, spills load of rice

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A semi truck loaded with 40,000 pounds of dry rice overturned early Thursday morning.

According to the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, the truck tied up traffic on US Hwy. 641 between Murray and Hazel for about seven hours.

Initial investigation shows the semi was traveling north when it left the road and overturned. 

US Hwy. 641 was blocked from Midway Road to State Line Road in Hazel.

Crews had to clean up the rice and transfer them to another trailer.

The semi tractor had two occupants, a driver and passenger. The passenger was transported to the Murray Calloway County Hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.
