CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The entrance to the Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri is concerning some of the administration at the school.

The principal, Brother David Migliorino, said that school administrators and other officials have talked with MoDOT about installing a traffic light on Route K.

A few years ago the school worked in conjunction with MoDOT to install a turning lane for the area so that the drivers would have a safer turn. While it does that, the school would like it safer. Brother David is concerned that the state will wait until a serious accident to act.

"We have had accidents, but fortunately fortunately nothing has been hateful and you know what I mean by hateful, no one has gone to god," Brother David said. "I don't want that to happen and I don't think we should wait for that to happen."

MoDOT is reporting that it has been in communication with the school but cannot justify a light because there are areas that need lights more based off of crash statistics.
