DYERSBURG, TN (KFVS) -

A Dyersburg man is behind bars, accused in the death of a two-month-old baby.

According to court documents, Jon Dillion Wheeler, 26, was watching the child overnight for his girlfriend on February 24.

The child's mother told investigators that when she left her baby at 1 a.m., she was fine.

When she returned around 5 a.m., the mother told police she could not get Wheeler to answer his phone or respond to her knocks on his bedroom window.

According to investigators, that's when she climbed into his bedroom through the window and found her daughter "cold and deceased."

Wheeler told investigators he had no explanation for what happened in his care that caused the girl's death, according to court documents.

The autopsy report showed the little girl died of 'blunt force head injuries.'

Wheeler faces a charge of 1st degree murder.

He is being held on $1 million bond.
