First Alert Weather Outlook:

As you walk out the door this Wednesday morning you may be surprised: the summer heat and humidity are back! Highs will be in the low 90s, with the heat index at or above 100-degrees. While there are no advisories out right now, it’s still a good idea to be careful and remember all those hot weather tips to stay safe. There is also a small chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. FIRST ALERT: the weekend is also looking hot and summer-like.

Making Headlines:

Overnight fire: Investigators will be back Wednesday morning to look for a cause of a late-night fire that destroyed a home in Chaffee. No one was home at the time. Firefighters say the home is for sale and under renovation.

Strong quake: A devastating earthquake rocked central Italy early Wednesday, collapsing homes on top of residents as they slept. At least 23 people were reported dead in three hard-hit towns.

Happening today: A $1.8 million dollar renovation project will get under way at the Capaha Baseball Field in Cape Girardeau today. One of those major changes involves swapping out the grass and replacing it with artificial turf.

Denied service: Five Louisville Metro Police Officers were refused service at a Louisville area Taco Bell. According to the River City Fraternal Order of Police, the incident didn't stop there.
