MOUND CITY, IL (KFVS) -

Police in Mound City, Illinois are continuing to investigate after reports of theft.

Two of three reported burglaries early Tuesday morning in Mound City were at homes with security cameras

According to police, on August 23 at around 3 a.m., two people were found on a private home security camera feed.

They say the people were illegally entering vehicles parked at homes in Mound City. One of the men was captured on video and police are hoping for the public's help identifying the subjects.

Mound City Police Chief said the investigation remains ongoing, but doesn't believe everyone should be labeled because of the crime.

"In a peaceful neighborhood where everybody knows everybody...then you wake up and find all of your stuff has been gone through," Page said. "I don't think everyone here should be labeled just because a couple of people decided to go out and make a bad decision, and apparently had nothing better to do.

Nancy Powell was one of the victims of the burglaries and is still in shock that something like this could happen to her. Powell called the neighborhood peaceful, but also said she installed the cameras to cover all her bases.

According to police, at this time, the subject in the video is only wanted for questioning.  Mound City police are still breaking down the footage, but say the images have really helped them narrow down their search.

Police say the person in the video is believed to be wearing a set of black headphones that were allegedly stolen from a home across the street from the home this video was captured, after also allegedly breaking into and stealing property from a vehicle.

They say the thefts total about $700 at this time.

According to police, at least three victims have contacted them to file reports of theft in the early hours of Aug. 23.

If you recognize anyone in the surveillance video, you are asked to contact Chief of Police Jimmy Page with the Mound City Police Department.

Police would like to note that the time indicated on the bottom of the video is incorrect. They say the alleged thefts took place around 3 a.m. on Aug. 23.
