SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

A man from Morehouse has died after police say he was hit by a vehicle as he walked.

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, James Hopper, 29, was walking down the middle of the road near Keystone Street when he was hit by a car.

Investigators said the first car hit Hopper with its bumper and side mirror and then started skidding and ran off the road.

A second vehicle hit Hopper as he laid in the road.

A third vehicle then hit the second car, according to police.

Hopper died at the scene.

One of the drivers suffered minor injuries.

According to police, everyone involved is cooperating in the investigation.

    Sgt. Clark Parrott said Troop E officers are on the scene of a crash on MO 72 near Cape Girardeau County Road 350. He confirms one person has died from injuries in the crash. Relatives have been notified.
