CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape West Rotary Duck Regatta is making another splash in Cape Girardeau Saturday, September 10.

This year’s races will be held at Cape Splash in the Lazy River thanks to the generous support of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation.

The three races that will take place are:

  • The Big Quacker Adult Race, ages 13+, sponsored by Cape Dry Ice and Agent Tom Smith of Farmers Insurance, begins at 4:15 p.m.

  • The Big Chief Business Battle Race, for businesses, sponsored by BOLD Marketing, begins at 4:45 p.m.

  • The Duck Wild Kids Race, kids 12 and under, sponsored by First Missouri State Bank and Sam’s Club, begins at 5:15 p.m.

Purchase ducks for the kids and adult races for $5 per duck or $25 for six.

Businesses can also get involved during the Corporate Race.

“Purchase a large duck for $100, decorate it to reflect your business and compete against others for the corporate prize,” said Cape West Rotary president Joe Pujol.

Corporate ducks are only $100, and a member from the business gets to decorate and retain the duck.

All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics and the Cape West Rotary Foundation.

Cape West Rotary Duck Regatta, now in its second annual event, is a local fundraiser that provides an opportunity for children, adults and businesses to partake in a fun, family- oriented community event while supporting two great organizations.

“This event has helped raise funds for the Special Olympics and the Cape West Rotary Foundation. We are excited to bring the Duck Regatta back to Cape Girardeau,” said Pujol.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners of each race.

Races begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 10.
