KENTUCKY LAKE, KY -

According to the Marshall County Coroner, the identity of a man who has drowned in Kentucky Lake on Saturday has been released.

David Marshall Theis, 53, of Indiana, went missing Friday, August 19 in Kentucky Lake around 6:30 p.m. and was found dead Saturday afternoon.

Curt Curtner with the Marshall County Rescue Squad said a search and rescue operation began Friday evening. It quickly turned into a recovery operation Saturday.

Theis's body was located around 4 p.m Saturday a little south of Moor's Resort.

According to Curtner, multiple agencies began searching Friday for a man who was in the water and had gone missing that evening.

Curtner said the man went swimming in the lake near Moor's Resort. After he went into the water, he reportedly went underwater and then surfaced. He then went underwater again - and didn't resurface after that.

Many agencies from four area counties assisted with the search, according to Curtner.

KFVS12 will provide more details as they become available.
