Baby expo coming to Discovery Park

UNION CITY, TN (KFVS) -

On Saturday, August 27th, Discovery Park of America is offering its Family Education Series in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee WIC, and Kidcentral, TN to bring a “Baby Expo” to Discovery Park.

If you have a newborn in the house or a baby on the way, this program is for you!

The Expo will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the ATA Traveling Exhibit Hall and is free to the public.

At 11:30 and 1:30 Dr. Mary S. David, OB/GYN will present an informative program for expectant mothers entitled “Breastfeeding 101.” 

Guests who are not otherwise visiting the park that day will check in at the lobby to receive a special name badge which will allow them to attend just the Expo at no charge.

The first 250 people to attend the Expo will receive a free goody bag.

Additionally, there are Expo door prizes and many of the exhibitors are offering giveaways at their booths. 

Additionally, there are fifteen or more exhibitors expected at the event including:  Woman’s Clinic, Baptist Hospital, Pediatric Place, United Health Care, Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Union City Police Dept. (child safety seat education), Ollie the Otter with the Tennessee Department of Safety, Walgreen’s, Child Care Resource and Referral, Miles Head Start/Early Head Start, Obion County Reading Railroad, Healthy Start/Healthier Beginnings, Tennessee Early Intervention Services and Emergency Preparedness (emphasis on Zika).

Additionally, the Health Department Services Display and Information will be highlighting WIC, Breastfeeding, HUGS, Baby and Me, Immunizations, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Tenn Care Kids and Safe Sleep.

This is part of a partnership between the Obion County Health Department and the West Tennessee Regional Health Office to inform the public about local health department services. 

Discovery Park of America is open 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. It is a unique blend of history and technology, science and fun.
