This week in country music: 1991 King George

(KFVS) -

Let's take a stroll down our musical memory lane and check out the country music scene from 25 years ago.

This week in 1991 Billboard Magazine's Hot Country Singles chart had Tanya Tucker at number five with Down to My Last Teardrop. The song was written by Paul Davis who had a string of country and pop hits in the 1970's and 80's.

Checking in at number four was Trisha Yearwood with She's in Love with the Boy. It was her very first chart hit and she would take it all the way to number one.

Hal Ketchum was in the number three spot with Small Town Saturday Night.

Coming in at number two was Reba McEntire with Falling Out of Love. It was the fourth and final single from her hit album Rumor Has It.

And in the top spot was You Know Me Better Than That by George Strait. The song spent three weeks at number one which rarely happened in those days.  It's one of Strait's 44 chart topping hits.
