CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

This weekend prepare for the pork at Cape Girardeau's Arena Park.

Teams will be competing for the best brisket, ribs, pork of all kinds and chicken at this year's annual Cape Jaycees BBQ Fest.

The event kicks off Friday, August 19 and goes until Sunday, August 21.

The event is open to the public on Friday with food, drinks and fun.

A silent auction will start at 6 p.m. and go until 9 p.m.

The Mike Renick Band will play live music while patrons enjoy their fest from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

A beer and beverage stand will be on hand, along with ice cream and other delicious treats.

The competition begins on Saturday.

Teams compete for the best BBQ bragging rights and a $10,000 purse.

The top prize takes home $2,500, with lower prizes ranging from $1,500 to $50.

All the money earned at the event goes to benefit The Jaycee's Toy Box that provides toys each year to children in need 17 or younger.
