People have been driving up to Kirchhoff Bakery in Paducah, Kentucky all day on Thursday, August 18 to help donate supplies for the victims of the flooding in Louisiana.

They are collecting many items to help with the clean-up process.

Genny Kirchhoff, the owner of the Bakery, decided to start gathering cleaning supplies. Supplies like wipes, paper towels and trash bags after a friend who lives in Louisiana reached out to her.

"Jeremy lost his family house, his grandfather's house," said Kirchhoff. "He sent pictures where the only thing you see is the eves of the roof and that's pretty sad."

So they started collecting supplies that will help those affected by the disaster clean up, but had no clue how much they would receive.

"We thought we would get a few things and ship them up and now we're driving down there in a box truck and taking all we can," said Kirchhoff.

Kirchhoff will be driving with a co-worker and friend, Sabrina Ryan. The two have been planning this over the past couple days.

"We can take the weekend and get down there and get back," said Ryan. "It won't be a lot of help but it will be something."

The bakers have filled up not only a corner inside their business, but a table in their garage as well. It's a good start but they have even more coming in.

"Some of the other local Businesses have been collecting as well," said Ryan. "So we'll get all of that tomorrow so we really have no idea of knowing how much we're actually gonna get."

The two will be starting the eight-hour journey after they bake Saturday's bread and are looking forward to handing out all of the supplies. They will be accepting donations of supplies and cash until 3 p.m. on Friday.
