Michigan man stops in Heartland during 6,000 mile 'pickleball' journey

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A journey to the South, playing pickle ball.

Pike started his trip in Grand Haven, Michigan and plans to play his way to Fort Myers, Florida and stay there for the winter.

His story has touched so many people in the Heartland, Cape Mayor Harry Rediger named today, August 18, "Dave Pike Pickleball Day."

Pike said he couldn't wait any longer to take this journey.

"It's just been something that I've wanted to do for quite a while and as you get older you realize that health is everything," Pike said emotionally. "So, that's why doing it now because you don't know about tomorrow."

While here, David has played Pickleball with the local chapter every day.

Pike's plans for his next stop  to be in Paducah.
