It is Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016.

First Alert Weather Outlook:

It’s another day to dry out for most of the Heartland. Expect a dry, warm morning with temps around 70 as you head out the door. By lunchtime, we’ll warm up to around 80-degrees. So today may be the only day this week to get your yardwork done. Parts of the Bootheel and western Tennessee won’t escape the clouds and rain though, with a system drifting north from the Memphis-area and stalling. FIRST ALERT: While the weekend is still looking wet, Brian says Sunday may turn out to be clear and even dry for some of the Heartland.

Making Headlines:

Search to resume: The Missouri State Highway Patrol is searching for a woman who called 911 on Tuesday saying she drove into high water and was in trouble. Crews scaled back their search overnight, but are expected to resume at daybreak.

Under investigation: A suspect is still at large this morning after an armed robbery at the Borowiak’s IGA on West Main Street in Marion. Police in Marion arrested Isaiah Dossie, 23, in connection to the robbery, but are still looking for a second black male.

Back to school: Southeast Missouri State and Southern Illinois University will be abuzz today as the class of 2020 move into their residence halls. We have live team coverage on the Breakfast Show.

Big moveMcDonald’s will pull an activity tracker that was included in happy meals after a report by KFVS sister station Fox19 Now found that the activity monitoring device was possibly causing burn marks on children. The activity monitor left a burn mark a 4-year-old, causing McDonald's to terminate the toy in the U.S. and Canada.
