MURRAY, KY (KFVS) -

Students at Murray State University are seeing some major changes on the college's campus as they are coming back from summer break.

The construction began in April of 2015, and the buildings are now available for incoming students.

The university now has a new residence hall, Hollis C. Franklin Hall, which is a four floor building that holds 385 beds.

In addition, a new building will house engineering and physics classes.

The dean said he is as excited as the students.

"It's more modern equipment, will be the most up to date and the facility will be state-of-the-art with a lot of  technology built into the building," Steve Cobb, Dean of Jesse D. Jones College of Science, Engineering and Technology, said.

Cobb said the building will allow for larger class sizes and more hands-on learning experiences to keep up with changing teaching techniques.
