Power restored to nearly 3,000 in Randolph County

CHESTER, IL (KFVS) -

About 2,954 customers were without power in Randolph County, Illinois.

The power outage included residents in Chester. 

According to Chester Emergency Management, most of the city lost power around 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Power was restored around 8:30 a.m.

Ameren reports the outage was likely caused by flooding.

An Ameren representative reports something likely bumped a line, tripping the substation.

Crews will be out with boats and a helicopter to patrol the line to see what might have hit the line.

Chester EMA stated on its Facebook page, that residents will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
