Perry Co., MO man pleads guilty to his role in murder

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A man from Uniontown, Missouri has pleaded guilty to a charge of tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution.

Michael Hemingway admitted to police that he disposed of a bag he received from Chester Cummings on the morning of the murder.

David "Trey" Phelps was killed in September. Police say he was beaten to death with an unknown object.

It happened in Hayti on September 24, 2015.

Hemingway's case was moved to Scott County on a change of venue request.

He will be sentenced in September.
