Standoff situation in Butler Co., MO over after suspect surrenders

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A standoff situation with police that occurred on Turtle Street in Butler County, Missouri on Wednesday, August 10 is over, according to authorities.

Officers and emergency personnel from several agencies were on the scene earlier this afternoon initially to serve a search warrant.

The suspect allegedly surrendered to authorities after being persuaded with OC gas.

The sheriff's department, the Sikeston Bomb Squad, the Sikeston Mobile Command Center, a K-9 unit, an ambulance and a fire truck were all on scene this afternoon for the incident.

A robot was also at the scene, ready to be used.

Police also reported there was a lady inside with the suspect, but was able to make her way out of the home.

The incident started with a shooting around 5 a.m. Wednesday on Midland Street in Poplar Bluff. The suspect shot into a home and the bullet went through the attic. No one was injured.

The same suspect came back to the home around 8 a.m. and banged on the door and left.

Police got description of the car the suspect was driving and tracked the vehicle to the home in Butler County.
