First Alert Weather Outlook:

The humidity is cranking up across the Heartland today. You’ll notice a difference even as you walk out the door. Temps will be similar to yesterday with highs around 90, but it will feel hotter because of the high humidity. Brian is tracking the possibility of some isolated afternoon thunderstorms. FIRST ALERT: The weekend looks soggy.

Making Headlines:

Turning violent: Gunfire broke out during a protest in Ferguson that marked the two years since Michael Brown's death, disrupting what had been a peaceful gathering. Protesters also made their way inside the Muny during a performance of 'Aida' and briefly chanted.

Deadly birthday party: Louisville police say a woman is dead and two people are injured after a shooting outside a birthday party.

Under investigation: A woman was fatally shot on Tuesday night during a joint police-citizen training event in Punta Gorda, Florida. The woman was killed in a “shoot/don’t shoot” scenario when she was struck by a live round. She died shortly after the incident at a nearby hospital.

Back to school: As thousands of Kentucky students head back to school this week, Kentucky State Police is urging motorists to remain cautious behind the wheel and help prevent injuries and deaths that result each year from school bus-related crashes.
