ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A man died and a woman was seriously injured after a motorcycle crash in St. Francois County, Missouri on Saturday, August 6.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Wheetley, William H. Penrose, 25, of Farmington, was riding with a woman on a small, 150cc motorcycle near Hillsboro and Pratte Road.

He said they hit a bump in the road, which caused them to lose control and crash.

Both were thrown from the motorcycle.

Penrose was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital where he died on Sunday from his injuries.

The 24-year-old Farmington woman was airlifted to another St. Louis hospital with serious injuries.

According to Trooper Wheetley, neither were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. He said he believes if Penrose had been wearing a helmet, he'd be alive today.

Wheetley said any occupants on a 150cc motorcycle or higher are required by law to wear a helmet.
