Flash flooding, damage follows Heartland storms

Several reports of flash flooding and trees down followed some storms in the Heartland on Friday, August 5.

According to the National Weather Service storm reports, several streets were flooded in Cape Girardeau, Missouri around 5 p.m.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department posted on Facebook that there are several flooded streets in Cape Girardeau. They say Public Works has been notified and they're working as quickly as possible to get barricades to the flooded locations.

Police say they have responded to several reports of stranded vehicles. They ask that drivers do not drive through impassable areas.

The NWS also reported water ponding on Highway 34 between Marble Hill and Jackson, Mo.

The Country Club Road and Mount Mission Road intersection in Metropolis, Illinois was also reported covered in water.
