IYC-Harrisburg inmate sentenced for spitting on guard

SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A 19-year-old Collinsville, Ill. man will spend six years in prison for spitting on a guard.

According to Saline County State's Attorney Michael Henshaw, David Hayes pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated battery.

Hayes spit in the guard's face in September 2015 while he was in IYC-Harrisburg.

After serving six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Hayes will serve two years of mandatory supervised release.
