ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

There were a number of blowout races all across Missouri on Tuesday, with some election candidates taking as much as 70% of the vote - but some were a little closer.

The St. Francois County Associate Commissioner District 1 Republican race was decided by one vote.

Candidate Votes Total % of votes
Gay Wilkinson 1,588  50%
Linda Black 1,587 50%

St. Francois County Clerk Mark Hedrick says that these are the unofficial results as of Aug. 3. They will certify the results on Friday afternoon, and be verified either Friday or Monday.

Hedrick said a candidate can also request for a recount if the race is decided by less than 1%. The candidate has to file a petition for a recount with the circuit court, which will then hold a hearing. By law, Hedrick said the ballots are now sealed and cannot be opened unless court ordered.
