Police: Victim of Cape Girardeau shooting identified, facing separate charges

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department have identified the man shot late Tuesday night in Cape Girardeau.

According to the department, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Fountain Street at 11:19 p.m.

Investigators found the victim, Derrick D. Tucker, 32, of Cape Girardeau, in the 700 block of North Middle.

Police say he was shot in the shoulder and that his injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

He was allegedly found to have packaged cocaine on him at the time of his arrest. Police also say Tucker, who is a convicted felon, had a firearm in his possession inside the car.

Police say he is facing three charges: possession with intent to distribute - cocaine, felony possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Tucker also allegedly had two outstanding arrest warrants, for probation and parole violation. 

Bond for Tucker was set at $50,000. Officers have not identified the shooting suspect.
