FRANKFORT, KY (KFVS) -

Severe flooding in July left several western Kentucky counties dealing with widespread damage.

State and federal teams will see the damage for themselves and will decide if any assistance may be required for recovery efforts.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky asked for Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments to be made in several counties including Caldwell, Calloway, Crittenden, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken and Trigg counties.

The Commonwealth also asked that JPDA's be conducted on flooded homes in Marshall County.

"Our Kentucky Emergency Management team has been working with local elected officials and emergency managers to determine any needs in these affected counties," KYEM Director Michael Dossett said.
