POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The Tinnin Center Art Gallery at Three Rivers Community College will feature the wildlife artwork of Doniphan native Eileen Melton to kick off the 2016-17 season.

The gallery showing will start on Monday, August 8 and will run through Friday, Aug. 19.

There will be an artist reception on that Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Southeast Missouri is home to a number of talented local artists, and we love showcasing the work of painters like Eileen at the Tinnin Center,”  David Fielding, Professor of Arts at Three Rivers College, said. “She shows that you can take what’s in your literal backyard and use it as inspiration for true art.”

Melton and her husband, Tom, a retired military officer, lives near Doniphan, Missouri, where they are reclaiming an old farmstead.

The animals and birds that live around their lake and woods are a great source of inspiration for Melton's wildlife paintings.
