KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

A six-year-old in Kennett is getting a lot of praise after covering the tab of several officers in town.

Kennett Police said it happened on July 24.

The boy paid for the officer's breakfast at John's Pancake House.

The officers later tracked down the boy's parents to let him know how much they appreciated the boy's support.

On Sunday morning, officers arranged a surprise meeting with the boy.

The surprise meeting included deputies from the Dunklin County Sheriff's office as well as troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The group presented the boy with a framed letter explaining how appreciative the officers were, a team patch, toys bought by the officers, a patrol patch, a challenge coin and several stickers.

The goal was to show the boy how much they appreciated his support.

Captain Tim Trowbridge also posted on Facebook thank you to the whole community.

"With all the recent tragedies of our Brothers in Law Enforcement across this Country, I would like to personally thank everyone in our area for the support you have shown to me and my fellow Officers during these trying times. Over the past month, I continue to receive a pat on the back, a hand shake, and hugs, from numerous people thanking me for my service. I have had breakfast and lunches bought by anonymous individuals more than anytime in my career. I'm so very proud of my community. I know without a doubt that I speak for my Department when I say this. Thank you Kennett for standing with us, and supporting us, through the good and the bad. Our Officers are just normal men and women who want Kennett to be a safe place for all. Thank you for your continued support and we pledge to always serve you to the best of our abilities."
