First Alert Weather Outlook:

A stormy morning will lead into a steamy Monday. Rain showers and thunderstorms are moving through the Heartland this morning. By lunchtime they will have cleared out and conditions will get hot and humid. Then the chance of more storms increases this afternoon. FIRST ALERT: The rest of the week looks hot, hot, hot!

Making Headlines:

Officer involved shooting: The search is on for a suspect after a Carbondale officer was shot during a police chase. The police officer is in serious condition at a St. Louis hospital.

Planned demolition: You will soon see signs of progress near Arena Park in Cape Girardeau. A crew will begin demolition on the old naval reserve center starting today to make room for a new police station.

Under investigation: Police say the pilot of a hot air balloon that crashed in Texas and killed all 16 people aboard had been arrested in Missouri for driving while intoxicated in 2000. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported in 2008 that the Better Business Bureau there had warned consumers about doing business with Alfred "Skip" Nichols after complaints about his balloon touring company.
