PERRY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The date to register for the primary election on August 2 has passed, but the deadline for the general elections is still open.

The deadline for Missouri is Oct. 12 for both mail and in person. Illinois' deadline is Oct. 23 for online, Oct. 11 for mail and Nov. 8 for in person. Kentucky's deadline is Oct. 11 for online, mail and in person.

Recently, Perry County Clerk Jared Kutz has seen an uptick in the number of residents looking to get registered.

"I really think last week is whenever I've kind of seen the tick up," Kutz said. "Can that be attributed to us getting close to this election? I don't think so because they are only worried about November."

Kutz is also seeing parents bringing in their children to get registered.

"To see mom and dad, and I'm getting chills right now. To see mom and dad bring in their kids to say, 'hey this is how we do it' You know, it's a neat thing," Kutz said.

According to Kutz, there are multiple places you can visit to get registered to vote.

"You can vote at your local health department, they send us registrations very frequently," Kutz said. "At your local DMV or license bureau, depending on what you call it in your community. They send us registration all the time."

If you decide to register, Kutz says you should bring some form of proof of residence with you.
