CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Ameren crews in Cape Girardeau, Missouri brought a new kind of heat relief on Friday, June 24.
They unloaded the 50 window air conditioners the company donated to the East Missouri Action Agency.
The agency will hand out the AC units to low-income and elderly clients.
The southeast director for Ameren Missouri said providing this kind of service just makes sense.
"Obviously anybody who has been outside knows how tough this heat could be for folks," Bob Dixon, southeast director for Ameren Missouri said. "And if you don't have air conditioning, it's vital that people be able to cool off."
Ameren Missouri has donated 640 air conditioning units across the state so far in 2016.
