Drumming: A new trend in fitness

There is a big trend in fitness centered on drumming.  

Fitness trainer Tamatha Crowson teaches one of those classes and says the number of people taking it has more than double. 

“There’s a couple of different ways people do it,” Crowson said. “There’s something called pound where they use weighted drum sticks. They drum on the floor and it’s all to music. There’s something else we do here at the Osage Center called cardio drumming.”

Participants say it is so fun you almost forget you are working out. 

“The cool thing about drumming workouts is it gives you a chance to work out your arms, use your legs, you’re drumming to the bet and so it really doesn’t feel like you’re working out at all,” Crowson said. “It’s just a lot of fun.  People with bad knees or bad hips can do it.  It easily modified to fit your particular fitness level.”

Drumming aside, what makes these workouts classes really unique is that it is designed for any age. 

“In fact, we’re getting ready to start a kids drumming class here at the Osage Center,” Crowson said. “It’s going to start Tuesday June 14th and it will be at 10 o’clock.  Any age kid really, school age kids especially, but I have people that range from junior high to retired senior citizens. Everybody enjoys it.”
