CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) - This week's Heartland Cook is among 100 or so men cooking for a cause, or rather two causes. Jason Cook of Carterville is taking part in the Chef Clash June 4, 2016 at SIU Arena. Tickets are $75, but all food and drinks are included. Each cook serves up his favorite recipe and this year, Cook is whipping up Sriracha Reuben Sandwiches. You can learn more about the event though the Chef Clash website, and purchase tickets here.

Ingredients:

  • Pumpernickel rye bread
  • Sliced corned beef
  • Swiss Cheese
  • Sauerkraut
  • Thousand Island dressing
  • Butter
  • Sriracha sauce

Directions:

Butter one side of each slice of pumpernickel bread. Stack slices of corned beef on non-buttered side. Add cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and a small amount of Sriracha sauce.

Place bread butter-side down on hot skillet on medium heat. Stack second piece of buttered pumpernickel butter-side up on top of sandwich.

After 3-4 minutes, flip sandwich to toast the other buttered side of the bread.

Continue to cook until cheese is melted and meat is heated through, approximately another 3-4 minutes.
