MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a single vehicle, roll-over accident on I-24 west bound near the 14 mile marker on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
The investigation showed that James O. Oliver, 43, of Eddyville, Kentucky, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck west bound on I-24, near the 14 mile marker. Due to slippery roadway conditions from prior snowfall, Oliver lost control of the vehicle, hitting a concrete bridge wall.
The vehicle then crossed back over the west bound lanes running into a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle rolled onto its top, coming to stop partially, blocking the inside westbound lane of I-24.
Oliver was transported to Lourdes ER by Mercy Regional EMS for treatment for non-incapacitating injuries.
The vehicle was removed from the scene by Meadows Towing. Reidland/Farley Fire Department assisted on scene.
I-24 west bound was reduced to one lane of travel for approximately one-and-a-half hours.
