SPARTA, IL (KFVS) -

The Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) youth program AIM recently received a scholarship endowment from the Pat and Penny Ireland Trust of Virginia.

The scholarship will be awarded to a number of young trap shooters over the next few years.

Mr. Ireland supported the ATA and the sport of trapshooting for more than 55 years by participating in the management of the sport.

Upon his death in 2010, Mrs. Ireland established the annual Pat Ireland Memorial scholarship to benefit members of the ATA's youth program, AIM. Mrs. Ireland passed away last year and wanted the endowment to provide scholarship assistance to young members.

This year there will be fifteen $2,500 scholarships awarded for a total of $37,500.
