MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department has launched a program to create a safe place for people to meet to buy and sell items they find online.
According to Sheriff Jon Hayden, a designated "Internet Purchase Exchange Location" had been set up at the McCracken County courthouse parking lot. That space is located next to the designated vehicle inspection lanes.
The exchange location has video surveillance that is recorded at all times of the day. There is also an almost constant law enforcement presence at the location, according to Sheriff Hayden.
Sheriff Hayden said that Deputy Crystal Nadeau came up with the idea after seeing a police department in North Carolina set up a similar exchange location.
