Hayti man arrested on arson charges

HAYTI, MO (KFVS) -

Hayti Police Chief Paul Sheckell is reporting officers, along with the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested a Hayti man on arson charges Friday, Feb. 5.

The Hayti Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Bell Street in reference to a residential structure fire Friday morning. 

While at the scene, officers determined the fire was a product of arson, and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to began a thorough investigation.

Over the course of the investigation, Hayti officers arrested Dixie S. Reid, Jr., 28, of Hayti, on first degree arson charges.

Reid, Jr. was transported to the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation. He was later released and transported to the Pemiscot County Justice Center.

He has been charged with arson in the first degree (a class B felony).

Reid, Jr's. bond has been set at $150,000.00 cash or surety bond.
